Do it for Little You

Arguably, the most authentic version of ourselves is the child we once were. The person you were before the world tried to tell you who to be. The things you liked to do before someone told you it wasn’t cool or important. This is the version of you that approached the world with pure curiosity and innocent joy. Free to explore passions without hesitation.

I often find myself looking back on my younger self and thinking, “I wish I would’ve believed in myself all this time.” As kids, we dive into new activities with a sense of innocent enthusiasm. Writing stories, playing instruments, designing clothes—dreaming of endless possibilities. But as we grow older, the voices around us begin to seep in. Filling our minds with doubts such as: “I’m just not good at that” or “that’s not my thing.” The fear of outside judgement keeps us from doing things we once loved.

Eventually, if we are lucky we may rediscover that sense of wonder. Giving ourselves the space to believe in the “impossible” again. With a newfound sense of confidence and understanding of ourselves and the world around us we can return to the things that once excited us. Whether that be a BIG dream, something you want to pursue as a career. Or a hobby to pursue in your free time.

At this point of my life, I truly believe that you can accomplish anything if you want it badly enough and are willing to put in the effort. It’s easy to look back and wish you had started something sooner. Convincing yourself it’s “too late” to pursue your passions. But the truth is, it’s never too late. Now is the time to embrace the activities you once loved and to explore the ones you were too afraid to try. Do it for you inner child.

Allow yourself the space to be “bad” at things, to grow without the pressure of perfection. We often let the fear of judgment, failure, and risk hold us back. Watching as opportunities slip by and dreams fade. Then we become stagnant. We settle into a routine that hinders creativity and imagination.

Rekindle that childhood hobby you once cherished. Take the chance and try something that scares you. Make the time for it. Do it for that child version of yourself who dared to dream. Life may become more serious as we age, and we may feel we don’t have time for “silly” pursuits. But who says we have to abandon that innocent joy just because we’re adults?

Keep the little kid alive within you. Embrace life with open arms and just LIVE a little.
