My Travel Essentials: carry-on edition
All of my travel essentials that I keep in my carry-on. I’m using the word carry-on loosely because I am actually referring to my “personal item”, aka the huge backpack I lug around. But anywho, let’s get into; everything I deem “essential” to bring with me.
Absolute Travel Essentials
- ID/travel wallet: I think these can go without saying, but always make sure you check for any documentation you need for travel before you leave. My favorite travel wallet is from Amazon and it has a spot for everything you could need (boarding pass, money, coins, passport, pen, cards, ID).
- AirPods/plug-in beats: this is definitely a necessity. I usually bring AirPods on shorter flights, but for my recent long flight, I also brought my old (hot pink) plug-in beats for in-flight entertainment. I genuinely do not think I could survive on an airplane without some sort of headphones. I forgot my AirPods once and I caved into buying the expensive headphones at the airport.
- Travel Backpack: I love my travel backpack and all of its excessive pockets. I’m sure you’ve seen it all over TikTok, etc. but it is from Amazon of course.
- Chargers & Portable Chargers: Travel days can be long days, and your phone is an ESSENTIAL part of the day running smoothly, make sure your battery is lasting all day.
- Computer/iPad: I love to be productive on flights so that’s what I bring my computer for, whether I am doing homework, editing, or organizing.
- Hand Sanitizer: Simple, planes are gross.
- Melatonin Gummies: Absolutely essential for overnight flights.
- Chapstick: This is just always essential no explanation necessary.
- Gum: helps with ear popping
Sort of Essential:
- Book: I LOVE reading on plane rides, so it’s always good to have a good book with you, whether that is on a Kindle, online, or a physical book (my preference).
- Makeup Bag: I like to be able to freshen up when necessary and if I have a checked back I like to keep that light, so keeping my makeup in my carry-on helps with weight.
- Toothbrush/Toothpaste: Specifically for long flights/layovers. When you think about it, typically for the duration of a long flight or layover, if you had been home you would’ve brushed your teeth twice.
- Moisturizer: Flying dries your skin out so much, it’s good to keep your skin hydrated.
- Hairbrush, Hand Lotion, Deodorant, etc: Just random toiletries that are nice to have with you all the time.
- Camera: Easy to have on me for vlogging & any pictures for when I first arrive.
- Snacks: I tend to forget to eat so u gotta bring snacks to remind me. Also, plane food always makes me sick so for a long flight, I need enough snacks to hold me off for meals.
- Journal: With so much free time on the plane, I often use it as a time to catch up on my journaling.
- Pens/Pencils: For journaling obvi.
- Bible: I bring my bible in my carry-on for a few reasons. 1 it’s heavy so it makes more sense to put it in a bag that isn’t getting weighed. 2 sometimes I like to do some bible study on the plane.
- Sunglasses: Always need my sunglasses when I get off the plane.
